Hi, my name is Lisa Rowland and I teach JA Economics and AP Economics.

Students are expected to read a minimum of one article a week and either post one comment online, or turn in a hard copy of their comments in class.
My hope is that students will learn more about economics and gain more interest in the subject by reading and writing their thoughts on current events. The site clustrmap shows visitors from all around the globe, please email and let us know what you think of our site.

I thought AK would not be able to recooperate after the Lockout. I also thought that people that worked there before the lockout wouldnt go back to AK but i though wrong. People did go back to AK and its back to normal. (as we think)
Ak is pretty much back to normal.... As it looks like. But i thought no one would go back when the lockout was over. Now many workers are back and many have retired
I am surprised that AK employees went back after the lockout. I have family who work for AK and when the lockout began i thought he and his family were going to have all kinds of problems. But everything does look like its back to normal. Lets just hope it really is
I'm surprised to hear that AK is doing well after the lock out. I thought for sure that the company would go downhill and possibly bankrupt. Actually, they're doing much better now than they were last year, which is a good thing for the workers and for the community as a whole.
my dad was locked during the strike... we were paying for 2 houses 3 cars and 5 people... it was really tough and my dad had to get his substitute teaching licenses and he subbed for a year. now we are finally going back to a normal life.
Ak is a big company no matter how many people they fire over a union job they will always be able to hire more people. But i do think it is wrong that they locked the people out that has been working there for a while. i think if they were going to get ride of anyone it should of been the new people.
Ak steel has done pretty good in the past year since the lock out. Nut i think that now they are making more money they should use some of that money and help with all of the pollution in our community. Most of it is from them anyways.
When the lockout started It was crazy. I everybody thought they were going to come back but i knew because how were people going to survive without a job. AK now I think is back to normal.
After the whole AK lockout thing happened i thought it was going to go under. Then after the lockout was over i didn't think anyone was going to work there. But i was wrong and its all back to normal.
I thought AK would go back eventualy after a period time i think this just was a community stunt just to try to raise the pay because people are not making enough money in there opinion.
